Inspired by what I called “wild and free” art in the “Outsider Art” exhibit at the Jamestown Arts Center and by the curiosities piled outside a local furniture restoration business, I offer this piece:
Bric-a-Brac on 1A, Oil pastel on gessoed Fabriano watercolor paper, 7.5”x11”
The business is called “The Strip Joint,” and it has been a fixture on Boston Neck Road (Route 1A) in Saunderstown for decades. Everybody in the neighborhood has at least one piece of furniture expertly stripped and refinished by Craig and his helpers.
I like the "wild and free"!
Wow! A commission by Reclaim Rhode Island? I will show this to misguided tourists who come to Chicago!
