Stucco Screen
In a previous post about the Metropolitan Museum, I promised to share more about works there that have moved me. This watercolor monotype that I made in November was inspired by a photo that I took in the museum a few years ago. It’s possible to search on the museum’s web site for specific works of art, using keywords like “stone” or “screen,” or by the gallery location. Obviously, I wanted to be able to say specifically what my picture was of, but I could not find the specific piece. I summoned all of my best search strategies and retrieved entries for other things I’d seen and eventually figured out that this must be in the Patty Cadby Birch Moroccan Court and that my piece wasn’t a specific piece of art, but actually part of the room built in 2011 by a group of craftspeople from Fez.
