I remember meeting Gaetano with you and G in NYC and really enjoying our conversations, much about theater. And I love love love this song--especially the wonderful chorus of voices. It prompted an odd flashback to "Gilligan's Island"....Sailors...Ginger... MaryAnn......Funny how the mind works.
Who asked? : a number of people who wanted to pledge a subscription amount in case I turned that feature on. (I think I've succeeded in turning that feature OFF so that people, when they subscribe, are NOT asked if they want to pledge.)
What does "substack" mean anyway? : My answer is, "a stack, or 'pile' of subscriptions." M.'s answer: "Does it have to mean anything?"
Pretty sure G. is ready to "let go" of the Christopher Columbus statue in Chicago. A preview of G.'s memoir: she feels a mixture of pride and shame regarding her Italian-ness.
A sign of success of Jed Is Lit is that it encourages further thought! For example, there is a great deal more to Stephen Fry (no relationship as far as I know) than Jeeves! I was trying to locate his impassioned speech on what (then) was "simpler" "LG." I didn't find it but I DID find an interesting and wide-ranging debate site:

WHO asked? What does "substack" mean anyway?? "Sub" must mean "subscription, but "stack"?
As for Italian-ness the City of Chicago took down the Christopher Columbus statue. G better make sense of this quickly!
More thoughtful and positive likes to follow.
